What's hard kombucha?
Traditionally, kombucha is a soft fermented tea drink, brewed with a special mixed culture of bacteria and yeast. Hard kombucha is the same base, taken up a gear with an extra fermentation that makes it alcoholic.
There are two ways to make it. You can take finished kombucha and add a spirit. Or you can do what we do: brew the tea, ferment it, then ferment it again to make it alcoholic. It takes longer, but the alcohol comes from the brew itself, the same way it does in beer, cider or wine.
Every can of Stiff Tea is double fermented hard kombucha at 3.4%. Tart, with a balanced sweetness, it drinks more like a fruit beer, natural wine, cider or cocktail than a soft drink. Made for curious drinkers and flavour fans.
How strong is Stiff Tea?
In a Pickle, Grape Cooler and Raspberry Blower are all 3.4% ABV, in a 330ml can (about 1.1 units). We ferment the tea twice, and that's where the alcohol comes from, not a shot of spirit.
Is it vegan and gluten free?
Yes. All our brews are vegan and gluten free, and we don't add sweeteners. The flavour comes from real fruit, tea and, yes, pickles.
How do subscriptions work?
Pick your brew and how often you'd like it, every 4, 6 or 8 weeks, and you'll save 10% on every order. We'll email you a few days before each one, so nothing's a surprise. You can skip, pause, swap your brews or cancel any time from your account. No phone calls, no fuss.
Subscriptions come in 6, 12 or 24 cans. The taster pack is a one-off, so you can try it before you fully commit to the tea life.
